For good reason, the expectations linked to front stage and back stage behavior influence most folks to work pretty hard to keep these two realms remain separate and distinct.

Front/Back/Off stage

We can’t deny it, we all have a Front, Back and Off stage personality. A life where we have different behaviours depending on the Setting in which we operate and the Audience we have in front of us. And, that’s essential to our human interactions. Adapting your behaviour to a situation doesn’t mean you can’t be yourself and honest. I believe that you can still be aligned to your values and the norms that animate you by adopting different roles according to the context. Curiously enough, it’s when you behave the same way no matter the Setting and the Audience that you can become confusing, embarrassing, or even controversial.
